A New Kitchen Look in About a Week

Cabinet Painting & Refinishing in Princeton, NJ

Smooth, sprayed finishes on your existing cabinets for a fresh look at the lowest cost.

Is Painting Right for Your Cabinets?

Painting works on most wood and MDF cabinets. Honey oak, cherry, and builder-grade maple from the 1990s are the most common kitchens we paint around Princeton. If your doors are in good condition and you just hate the color, painting is your best bang for the buck.

Painting is not a fit for thermofoil doors, peeling laminate, or cabinets with water damage. Paint won't stick to those surfaces for long. It also keeps your current door style, so if you want shaker doors and you have raised panels, refacing is the better path. Call (609) 745-1325 and we'll tell you which way to go.

Painting vs. Refinishing vs. Staining

Painting

A solid color coat over a bonding primer. This is the most popular choice, with whites, soft grays, sage green, and navy leading the way.

Refinishing

Stripping or sanding the old finish and applying a new clear coat or stain. Best when you like the wood grain but the finish is worn or yellowed.

Two-Tone

Painted perimeter cabinets with a different color on the island. This look adds a lot of style for little extra cost.

What's Included in a Cabinet Painting Job

Full Degreasing and Cleaning

Kitchen grease is the main reason cheap paint jobs peel. We clean every surface with a degreaser before sanding.

Sanding and Bonding Primer

We scuff-sand every surface and apply a primer made to grip glossy, factory finishes.

Sprayed Topcoats

Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed off site for a smooth finish with no brush marks. Frames are sprayed or rolled in place with the room fully masked.

Hardware Swap

Want new pulls? We fill old holes, drill for new hardware, and install it after the final coat.

Reassembly and Adjustment

We rehang every door, adjust hinges, and make sure everything closes evenly.

Why Choose Princeton Cabinet Co. for Cabinet Painting

We Spray, Not Brush

A sprayed finish is smoother and lasts longer than a brushed one. You won't see roller texture or brush strokes.

Prep Is Most of the Job

We spend more time cleaning and sanding than painting. That's what keeps the finish from chipping a year later.

Honest About What Paint Can't Fix

If your doors are thermofoil or the boxes are damaged, we'll tell you before you spend money on paint.

Cabinet Painting FAQs

How long does painted cabinetry last?

A professionally sprayed finish usually lasts 8 to 10 years or more with normal use. The keys are good cleaning, a bonding primer, and a hard topcoat. Wipe spills quickly and avoid harsh cleaners, and your finish will stay smooth for years.

Can I use my kitchen while you paint the cabinets?

Mostly, yes. Your doors are in our shop, and your counters and appliances stay in place. There are a day or two when the frames are being coated that you'll want to keep the kitchen clear.

Will painted cabinets chip?

Any paint can chip if hit hard, but a sprayed, cured finish holds up well. We leave you a small jar of touch-up paint matched to your cabinets for any nicks down the road.
